Nutritional supplements that can help eradicate brain fog
If you're over the age of 50, odds are you've already experienced some signs of brain fog—a downturn in memory and other aspects of cognitive functioning that commonly appears around peri-menopause and often accelerates into the senior years. In another blog post, I will explain the common biochemical reasons and give you natural therapies for that creeping brain fog. Also if you need prayer for problems with brain fog I have prepared one whereby I explain what it is, how to get rid of it from a physiological standpoint and also I pray medically in this audio download.
For today, though, I want to build on that information by telling you about some new cutting-edge brain therapies.
First, here's a quick things to bear in mind:
► Most often, brain fog appears when hormone levels start shifting. If those shifting hormone levels return to a balanced state, the brain fog often clears.
► However, at the same time, there's an ongoing decline in levels of the "precursor" hormones pregnenolone and DHEA, both of which the body uses to create estrogen and testosterone. They also have direct roles in protecting the neurons and synapses of the brain against age-related decline.
Healthy levels can prevent memory loss, maintain (and even restore) mental sharpness, and stimulate healing after vascular injury such as stroke.
► Well-designed studies at respected institutions show that certain herbal adaptogens (such as Siberian ginseng and ginseng) and specific nutrients (such as vitamins C and E) can protect and sharpen the brain by modulating its hormonal stress response, improving neurotransmitter levels, increasing learning and memory scores, and improving overall mental functioning.
These therapies can help you protect your precious mental clarity throughout your lifespan, no matter how foggy your brain is right now.
But make no mistake—the earlier, the better.

Living Algae and its benefits
Scientists have found that Blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria) was among the first forms of life on earth.
Now referred to as nature's perfect food, some species are edible, and others are highly toxic. One of the edible strains, Aphanizomenon flosaquae (AFA), has powerful offerings for the brain. You can check out this product Amazon offers. Some of the benefits include:
► A rich source of amino acids.
The brain needs amino acids to replace aging neurons and produce a steady supply of neurotransmitters. AFA is tailor-made brain food because it's one of the best known sources of amino acids, which are highly bioavailable. And its peptide components are of low molecular weight, which means they are easily transported across the blood/brain barrier.
Algae is also the richest known source of chlorophyll, which increases amino acid assimilation and oxygen availability in the brain.
► 23 minerals in easily assimilated, organic forms, for smooth biochemical functioning.
► Stem cell stimulation.
As one of the primordial life forms on earth, it's fitting that AFA has the ability to stimulate stem cell proliferation. In a double-blind study of nine healthy individuals, one hour after taking an AFA extract orally, there was a 25 percent increase in the number of adult stem cells in their bloodstream Cardiovascular and Revascularization Medicine).
► The "molecule of love."
That's the pet name for phenylethylamine (PEA), a neuroamine present naturally in the brain, in trace amounts in chocolate, and more significantly in AFA. It's been shown to mimic the brain chemistry of a person in love, so it should come as no surprise that it's a natural antidepressant. It serves as a neuro-modulator in the brain, promoting clear thinking and focus and optimal cognitive functioning.
Deficiencies are obvious with these symptoms
In fact, deficiencies are associated with depression, schizophrenia, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (The Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine). A fully organic, pure AFA product that I particularly like is E3Live BrainON on Amazon.
One thing I like about this product is that it's available in fresh-frozen form, so the algae organisms are alive and active.
You can also check out Pure Hawaiian Spirulina - 500mg tablets to improve brain health. Personally though I prefer the non-GMO powder kind where I sprinkle the powder over my salad, or swirl it into my smoothie or green juice drink. For this I prefer Californian grown Spirulina.
With potent brain fuel, partnered with increased brain energy, a clearer, sharper mind is well within reach. ■
It is also a good idea to start your program to banish brain fog with some sort of detox to set the right stage in your body. This self test (questionnaire) I designed to check if you may need detoxification may be helpful.
